Looking for birthday present Ideas for a cool, trendy husband that just loves his gadgets and technology. Or perhaps, your husband likes to think he’s cool and trendy and wants the latest gadgets even though he can just about figure out how to switch them on?!
We can help, we’ve picked out a few of the must have gadgets that are sure to be high on the birthday present list for techy hubbies everywhere in 2012:-
1) The Kindle – Our #1 Pick For 2012
Since it’s launch the Kindle has been by far the best e-reader on the market. It’s one of those gadgets that just works and does exactly what it’s intended to do. It’s a universal gift that not only you’re husband will love, but your mum will love, your son will love, your daughter will love and so on.
Amazon have also hit the nail on the head when it comes to pricing and the new Kindle Touch represent fantastic value for money at under £90.
It’s attractive to look at, has the most realistic text on any e-reader, has an incredible battery life and access to the biggest library of books anywhere. Buy one for your husband’s birthday, he’ll love it!
2) The Tablet PC
The tablet PC went mainstream in 2011 with big name brands like Samsung, Motorola, HTC and Asus all releasing Android based models in an attempt to take on Apple’s reigning iPad. Some were great, some were awful and two have emerged as the best Tablet PC’s on the market at the time of writing this post.
The two tablets i’m referring to are the Asus Transformer and the iPad 2
. There’s very little to distinguish between them from a functional perspective with some reviews slightly favouring the iPad whilst others slightly favoured the Asus (which is £100 cheaper).
This one’s really going to be down to whether your husband is an Apple fan. Some seem to love Apple’s design ethos and won’t buy anything else whilst others prefer the freedom offered by Google’s Android operating system.
Whichever one you go for, buying a gadget fan a tablet PC for a birthday gift is like giving spinach to Popeye, you really cant go wrong.
3) The 3DTV Revolution
I like many others was a little sceptical about about the whole 3D TV revolution that’s sweeping through the electronics world. I’m just about old enough to remember watching Jaws 3D and a couple of the “3D specials” on the main broadcast channels and being dissapointed by the whole experience.
..So I wasn’t expecting much the first time I put on a set of next generation 3D glasses at a local electrical store. I couldn’t have been more wrong, they were playing a nature based Blu Ray which absolutely blew my mind. I felt like I was there in the Sea with the Sting Rays and ever since standard 2D Tv seems very, very flat!
This one’s not a cheap gift but if your husband is even remotely interested in home cinema or watching films then a 3D TV is going to be a real treat.
4) The Smart Phone
The smart phone has been around for a few years now but in 2011 a lot of new phones hit the market. It was a year of high resolution, dual core super phones with every imaginable bell and whistle.
The current king of the pile has to be the Samsung Galaxy SII but not everyone has that kind of money to spend on a phone.
Our current top pick for the phone that offers the best compromise between performance and value has to be the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini. At under £160 it’s a real bargain.
